An AC maintenance contract is sold in Delhi every February, usually with the phrase "before the rush". The rush is real — from late April a good technician genuinely is hard to get within a week — but that is a reason to book early, not automatically a reason to buy a year of cover.
Whether an AMC is worth it comes down to arithmetic you can do in thirty seconds, plus one question about what it excludes. Both are below.

An AMC is essentially prepaid servicing. So the question is simply whether the contract costs less than the services you would otherwise book.
- Count your units. AMC is priced per unit, so three ACs is three contracts. This is where the number gets large and where people stop reading the per-unit line.
- Count the services you would actually book. Most Delhi homes need two a year per unit — one before summer, one mid-season if the AC runs hard. Some households genuinely only manage one.
- Multiply and compare. If two services a year at ₹500–900 each comes to less than the AMC, the contract is buying you convenience and priority rather than savings — which may still be worth it, but you should know that is what you are buying.
Where an AMC genuinely wins: several units, a household that forgets to book, older ACs that need attention more often, or a building where getting a technician in May is a two-week wait. Where it does not: one or two newish units in a home that reliably books a service each March.
What an AMC almost never covers
Most AMC disputes are about scope, not quality. Settle these five before signing.

Before you sign
- Get the visit schedule in writing, with months. "Two services a year" without dates is how the second visit quietly never happens.
- Ask what happens in peak season. An AMC whose value is priority access should say what priority means in May.
- Check it is per unit and count your units before comparing to anyone else's quote.
