A move-out clean is not a deep clean with a different name. It is a different job, and knowing why is what stops you either overpaying for one or losing a deposit over the other.
An ordinary deep clean happens around your furniture and your life. A move clean happens in an empty flat — which means everything that was hidden for three years is suddenly reachable: behind the fridge, under the wardrobe, the inside of every cabinet, the top of every door frame, the marks left where furniture stood. There is more surface, all of it is accessible, and the standard being measured against is not "clean enough to live in" but "clean enough for the next person, and for the landlord holding your money".

It sounds backwards. Less stuff should mean less work. In practice the opposite is true, for four reasons worth knowing before you argue about the quote.
- Everything is reachable, so everything is in scope. Behind the fridge, under the beds that are gone, the backs of cabinets, the tops of wardrobes. In a furnished clean those surfaces are simply not part of the job.
- Cabinet and wardrobe interiors. Every shelf, every drawer, inside and out. In an occupied home they are full and skipped.
- What furniture was hiding. Sun-faded flooring with darker rectangles, scuffs on skirting, marks where a sofa sat against a wall. Some of it cleans off. Some does not, and finding out early is the point.
- The standard is external. A deep clean satisfies you. A move-out clean has to satisfy a landlord who is deciding about money, and who will look in exactly the places that were never cleaned.
Size drives the price more than anything: the number of bathrooms and the state of the kitchen are usually what separates a quote at the bottom of the range from one at the top.
What should be on the list
Agree this before the day, not on it. A move clean quoted without a scope is where "we did not think that was included" comes from.

The deposit: what actually decides it
In Delhi NCR a security deposit is commonly two to three months' rent, which makes this the most financially significant clean most people ever book. A few practical things matter more than the rest.
- Photograph the empty flat after the clean. Every room, both bathrooms, the kitchen, and any mark you could later be blamed for. Timestamped photos end most deposit arguments before they start.
- Bathrooms and kitchen carry the most weight. Limescale and grease are what a landlord notices first, and both need chemistry and time rather than effort. If you cut the budget anywhere, do not cut it here.
- Know the difference between dirt and wear. Cleaning is your responsibility; normal wear is not. Faded paint where sunlight fell, or a slightly worn floor in a doorway, is wear. Grease on a cabinet is dirt.
- Book it after the movers, not before. An obvious point that people get wrong constantly — moving furniture out marks floors and walls, so clean once the flat is genuinely empty.
- Give yourself a day of slack. If something needs a second pass or a small repair, you want to find that out before handover day, not during it.
If the flat has just been repainted or worked on, that is a different job again — cement dust and paint spatter need a post-renovation clean, not a household one.
Moving in: the cheaper, easier half
A move-in clean is the same job with less pressure and usually a lower price, because you are not being marked and because most flats are handed over in reasonable order.
It is still worth doing before your furniture arrives, for the obvious reason: an empty flat is the only chance you will ever have to clean the backs of every cabinet and the floor under where the wardrobe is about to stand for three years.
- Prioritise bathrooms and the kitchen. Someone else's limescale and grease is the part people mind, and it is the part that takes chemistry rather than wiping.

- Do it before the furniture, not after. The saving in effort is enormous, and it never comes round again.
